Acne and Its Resultant Scarring Explained

As you may know, having acne can be a very difficult time for adults and especially teenagers. Acne can be a lifelong event, that can sometimes be treated over a couple of days, and other times it will last many weeks. Although each person is different, usually there is some bit of humiliation from having acne on your face. What most people do not know is that there is a great deal of social stress involved, despite advancements in treatments over the last few years. If you are a parent, you should understand that this situation can have detrimental emotional effects. Acne can be very painful, but it is occasionally more unpleasant because of the social issues. If you suffer from acne, the following tips will help you out.

When you are told not to squeeze your pimples, this admonishment is based on sound logic. If you are tempted to just inadvertently squeeze your blemishes, you could cause scarring. And when you have a scar, your skin has been damaged. It is especially undesired to squeeze so much that it bleeds. What you'll end up with if you squeeze too hard is large pores and scars. If you apply mild pressure to a pimple that is close to the surface of your skin, you can successfully squeeze out the pus. This is OK to do. Before you squeeze, you'll want to cleanse the area with a cloth that has been dipped in warm water. Don't use hot water. This will not only cleanse the area, but will soften the blemish to make squeezing easier. Don't overdo it when you have warmed up the area and are ready to squeeze the pimple. Be very gentle. Do not attempt to "get everything" because that is when you can cause damage.

Acne has a variety of forms that it can develop, most of which are not known to most people. The list is long, and the various nuances involved that effect what something is called is complicated. There are many different varieties of acne that people can contract. For example, Rosacea is a form of acne that may or may not be accompanied by comedones, or the common blackheads and whiteheads. Taking care of your acne is usually stymied by the fact that no one knows exactly why you have acne or why it is caused. Acne does have a genetic origin which varies from person to person. Although acne may be caused from genetics, if your family seems prone to get it, it does not necessarily reflect a genetic predisposition. For example, a person could have developed acne in a person's family lineage, and that occurrence may not have been genetic in origin. In the situations in which there is a genetic tendency, then there will often be several members of the family who develop the condition.
