Who are the Special Greek forces?

Greek Special Forces, also called the Hellenic Army are part of national defense Greece and are essentially ground forces. They comprise of three regiments with a force of 100,000 members in time of peace and the ability to increase to 1.5 million soldiers in times of war. Their motto is "Who Dares Wins." Military service is compulsory in Greece.

His Story

Greek Special Forces started in 1828 during the struggle for Greek independence. Its emblem is a combination of modern Greece, the Greek Orthodox Church and the Byzantine Empire.

How to become a Member of the Greek Special Forces

There are several fractions of personnel in the Greek army. Those wishing to join the Special forces join Evelpidon Military Academy. The Greek army is composed of professional soldiers, volunteers and conscripts. Graduates of the academy considered to be higher in seniority, followed by volunteers and conscripts.

Greek Special Forces Training

No information is available regarding special training for the Greek Special Forces with the exception of military training received at the academy. Those who enlist as volunteers or who are under mandated service receive basic military training under the senior officers who are graduates of the academy.

Navy Seals special forces against the Pirates of Mark Yates The British American Security Expert

I have spent many years in the company of, and training Special Forces worldwide. One of the best advantages is that I receive regular updates intelligence service personnel in Special Forces who are deployed in various theaters of World War.

I have written several articles recently about maritime piracy and kidnapping for ransom later workers sea. Therefore, it was no surprise that as soon as a band of Somali pirates decided to take the Maersk Alabama high so fast in the presidential reins Barack Obama, was only a matter of time before that special forces were sent to teach the pirates a lesson in good manners.

Now safe to say that these pirates were not exactly Mensa candidates, a fact that is repeatedly played until the final outcome of this kidnapping.

And so a brief summary of the case, an American cargo ship was hijacked by pirates. 21 The Alabama man crew fought the pirates, but the captain was taken hostage after offering himself to save his crew of further damage to four armed men surrounded then Captain Richard Philips. Captain jumped in the Indian Ocean about 300 miles off the coast of Somalia, but despite a fight pirates took him back to board a lifeboat. The pirates demanded a ransom of $ 2 million for the release of the captain and issued warnings that he would be killed if attacked, or if no ransom was paid.

Namely hokey when you think started. Other pirates in the area were reported heading toward the pirates hijacked a German ship. Apparently they believed that Americans would not attack if another foreign vessel was near. Other pirates a Norwegian tanker and 27 crew members released after receiving a ransom of U.S. $ 2.4 million.

It was his rude introduction to the phrase "live by the sword dies by the sword. The only way to reduce number of pirate attacks on maritime vessels is to ensure the armed personnel accompany each ship and each crew member is trained in anti-piracy tactics.

I have spent many years in the service of escort and protection of assets for lots of customers corporate. During my career I ship also provide maritime safety and the crew in several countries. Maritime security and combat operations piracy can not be carried out by security officers trained in conventional skills of close protection. Maritime security is a completely different and specialized security training must be conducted before entering the field.

It is my opinion that procurement rules must be re-written. Since access control is the cornerstone of all security operations to reduce risk, all small vessels is about larger military or civilian cargo or passenger vessels in waters dominated by pirates fired to deter pirates.

Pirates have also capture other four boats seized 60 hostages from the Navy Seals special forces killed three pirates are described in this article. It seems that Somali pirates are pointing more boats and hostages for ransom to show they are far from being intimidated by the prospect of President Obama to tackle the pirates.
