Actually, a mount is an animal (or vehicle) that players summon to ride. When players are mounted, their speed of travel can be increased. Mounts are divided into 4 categories.

Basic Ground Mounts

These mounts are available for players at level 30. Players need to buy the apprentice riding skill, which gives players a riding skill of 75. Players can buy these mounts at racial vendors and can have a speed increase of 60%.

Epic Ground Mounts

When players get to the Outlands at level 70, you can get flying mounts. It requires the expert riding skill of 225. Flying mounts are as necessary as the certain areas can only be reached by flying. The basic flying mounts provide 60% increase of the speed both on the ground and in the air. To be able to fly to Northrend, players have to spend gold on WOW to buy Col Weather Flying, which is only available at the level over 77.

Epic Flying Mounts

These mounts are available at level 70, but it requires the artisan riding skill of 300. These mounts increase the speed 100% on the land and 280% in the air. Players definitely love and worship these mounts.
