Small Gun Safe Types That You Should Keep In Mind
The small gun safe is something that all hand gun owners need to think about getting.
You'll find that their are a multitude of safes that are more than adequate for firearm storage. I wrote this article to provide with with information on the three main types of gun safes. I'll go over the benefits and drawbacks of owning each type of safe.
The key operated type of gun safe is by far the oldest kind of safe that people use. This is a safe that can only be locked and unlocked with the use of a key.
These safes are readily available and are not very costly to purchase. What I like about these safes is that only lock pickers and key holders can get into them.
With advanced locking mechanisms it is very difficult for lock pickers to get into these safes.
Unfortunately, this also means that if you lose the key, you won't be able to get into it. Tracking down a key during a home invasion can be very frustrating and even dangerous.
Another type of small gun safe is the combination lock safe. A combination lock keeps this type of safe secure. You'll be able to choose from an electronic combination lock and a manual one. Electronic combinations however will need a power supply to make them work. Plugs as well as batteries are both available in most models.
The disadvantage to this type of safe is that you could forget the combination. During a home invasion it can be extremely hard to remember little things like this, which could make this safe unviable for this task.
Lastly, we have the biometric gun safe. This type of safe is an electronic safe that records your fingerprint. All you have to do is place your finger on the reading device to make the safe open up. This is great because it allows you quick and easy access to your hand gun.
The down side to this small gun safe is that it is an electronic device and can break down. In order to get around this, you will want to get one that has a hidden key hole so that you can access it by key as well as through fingerprint.
