Utilizing Natural Gas For Improved Energy Efficiency

Throughout the United States and the rest of the world, natural gas usage is on the rise. With today’s news headlines preaching about the impending doom of the environment, the problems with natural resource consumption and the climate crisis, major talks are underway about the future of natural gas in creating a cleaner and more sustainable source of energy around the world.

Natural gas is a difficult subject to discuss in appreciation without some basic understanding of the technical sides to the fuel. As a closely related cousin to oil and coal, natural gas comes from the same underlying geological process. Plant matter is buried and condensed over time which eventually creates what we call coal, oil, and natural gas – each of which represents a different type of atomic structure (solid, liquid, gas).

Natural gas is considerably different from other carbon based fuel sources in that “carbon” is a significantly smaller contributor to the anatomic structure of natural gas. Methane encompasses the majority of a natural gas molecule both naturally and because of a filtering process which removes harmful hydrocarbons including much of the carbon dioxide (CO2) found naturally in the gas.

Many uses can be had for this clean fuel source from industry to stove top cooking. Even the transportation industry is creating bus and airplane engines to run off of eco-friendly natural gas. Natural gas boilers and appliances are another area in which natural gas usage is thriving.

So now we know that natural gas is not only a clean alternative to other dirty fuels but it can also be used for a variety of energy needs. The question remains however of it’s possible for natural gas to become even more efficient? The short answer is yes! Many forms of technology have been made that improve the emissions of natural gas while still saving your business money.
