Garmin Watches: How They're Different
Next, let's walk through the differences between the Garmin watches, not just in terms of the generations of the watches but also in how the various watches within those generations stand apart from one another. For example, the most current incarnation of the Garmin Watches have stronger access to GPS signals, making them much more accurate in terms of real time data tracking. That said, the older watches do have some better attributes. For starers, the older Garmin Watches can store a whopping 5k laps in their onboard memories, while the newer Garmin Watches can only store 1k. Older Garmin Watches in the Forerunner series don't let you record and compete against previous workouts like the newer Garmin Watches do, either. The older Garmin Watches also feature three real-time data fields on its display. There are 4 on the 2nd and 3rd generations. Then, on the 4th generation, it's back down to three, but this is likely due to its smaller screen.
There are also a few differentiations between the current generations of Garmin Watches. For instance, the 305 and 405 Garmin Watches let you use foot pod devices and a Heart Rate monitor with them, while the 205 doesn't. You can use a USB data transfer with each of the watches, but it's only the 405 that lets you do so wirelessly. The second and third generation watches aren't nearly as sleek as the 4th and would be harder to wear for everyday use. Strangely, the 205 and 305 Garmin Watches support GPS navigation but the 405 doesn't.
