One good technique is to use what is known as gang hooks. These are created by simply tying to small hooks together. So you end up with twice as much bait, which is much more tempting to a trout than a single baited hook. So if you want to get more trout to bite, use smaller, sharper hooks and try gang hooks. Going after brook trout can be especially fun, especially if you like to get away from it all and explore nature. They like to live in cold streams and rivers in the mountains. The colors of Brook trout are seen as red, green, and brown. The flavor of trout is very good, yet some will not eat them but keep them as pets at their home because of their colors. Spinner-bait is a very popular way to fish for trout in the rivers when flyfishing. Many fishermen practice catch and release with brook trout to maintain healthy populations.
While trout can be found throughout North America, that doesn't mean they're in every body of water. If you want to find trout, you have to know what type of environment they prefer. Trout live in streams, rivers and lakes. They prefer cold water. If the water you are fishing in is swift, but you can see bubbles on the surface, you have probably located a good place to look for trout.
You can pretty much assume that if you see bubbles on the surface of the water, that the water is oxygen rich - a feature that trout love. Check under any objects that overhang the water. These are great places for trout to sleep and hunt for morsels to eat. These objects can be natural, or created by man. Some suggestions would be docks and piers, brushy overgrowth along a bank, or downed trees or logs. When it comes to American traditions, you can't beat trout fishing, which has delighted men, women, and children for many decades. One of the reasons
is that you can usually find a great place to go trout fishing in most areas of North America. You may want to plan an exotic deep fishing adventure someday, but trout fishing is something you can do close to home.
